About the Author

Steven Hahn is a Pulitzer Prize winning historian whose  new book Illiberal America uncovers the  powerful deep-seated illiberalism that  is part of the American bedrock. Hahn is a professor of history at New York University and a specialist on the history of the nineteenth-century U.S. and the comparative history of slavery and emancipation. His 2004 work, A Nation Under Our Feet, received multiple awards, including the Pulitzer Prize in History and the Bancroft Prize in History, and was a finalist for the Lincoln Prize and Frederick Douglass Prize.
