About the Interviewer

Ron Charles writes about books, authors, and literary culture. Formerly a book critic and deputy editor of Book World at The Washington Post. Before joining the Post in 2005, he taught English and edited the book section of The Christian Science Monitor. Charles and his wife Dawn create the “Totally Hip Video Book Review,” a satirical but thoughtful commentary on book‑review culture and publishing hype.
